Finding E-mail Addresses

Webmail utilizes a directory listing of all Reed students, staff, and faculty to make finding contact information easy. Begin by composing a message. Enter part of a person's name or e-mail address in the To: or CC: fields and then click Expand Names to open a list of individuals who match what you've typed in. Select the correct name from the menu. These steps may be repeated to add multiple individuals to the recipients list. Due to how the system performs its recognition, it is advisable to type in what you believe to be the first name, or last name of your contact, but not both at the same time.

Personal Address Books

Webmail allows you to create and manage a personal address book online. To create new entries in this address book, click on the Address Book tab located near the very top of the page. This should bring you to an interface resembling the one shown below:

Click on the Add button in the toolbar to bring up a page requesting information for a new contact. Fill in any information you have, and then click Save. To import multiple contacts, click on the Import/Export toolbar button and choose the appropriate format. Select the file to import, and then click Next.

To create a list of contacts, click Browse. Then check the contacts you wish to add to the list and using the menu called Select List, select the list that you wish to add the contacts to. If you wish to create a new list using the selected contacts, select New List and you will be prompted to enter a name for the list you are about to create. Once the list is created, click Add To to add your selected contacts to that list. To see a list of all lists you have created, click the View Lists link.

Using Your Address Book

Begin by composing a new message. Click on the Address Book button just under the Charset textbox. This will launch a popup window that will let you search for and add those in your address book to the recipients list of the e-mail. You may select whether to send the e-mail To them, CC the message to them, or BCC. Once you are done, click the OK button. The recipients fields of the e-mail should now contain the contacts you have specified.
