Peer Mentor Program

Events and Activities

Pre-Orientation Retreat

Reed's Peer Mentor Program offers an opportunity for incoming students from under-represented background to build connection with each other and the upper-class students who could offer advices from their experiences before orientation.

Students who have signed up for this program must attend a one-day retreat the day prior to orientation, where students are introduced to fellow new Reedies, upper-class future mentors, along with some staff, and faculty. A central focus of this retreat will be for students to get to know one another, and to learn about the various campus resources available in a more intimate setting early on.

The peer mentor retreat is useful for students who are eager to meet their peers, and for students who have questions about adjusting to the Reed culture. The purpose of the retreat is to connect with the networks on campus, start establishing relationship with fellow members in the program, and get a sense of the diverse body of students: Students who have an expressed interest in connecting with peers, who identify with underrepresented constituencies on campus, and who hold an interest in exploring issues of racial, economic, religious, and gender diversity, along with numerous other concerns.
