Portland Area Information
Portland and the Northwest are incredible places to live and visit. There is so much to see and do, and Reed's location makes it quite possible (assuming that one finds the time). You can find the Pacific coast to the west and the Cascade Mountains to the east, both within an hour's drive. In Portland itself, you can find an amazing cultural scene with several arts organizations presenting first-rate performances and exhibitions. In addition, Portland is home to one of the best independent bookstores in the country (Powell's), as well as many unique coffee shops, thrift stores, and restaurants.
