Orientation activities & information

Visit activities and information for new Reedie orientation information, and what to expect when you arrive on campus.

What to bring

How do you pack your whole life into a suitcase? Here are some things you might find useful to make your room comfortable, to stay dry in Portland, and to get ready for Reed.

Just for transfers

Find answers to questions about transfer credits, Hum 110, and specific orientation activities.

Just for off-campus students

If you live off campus, you will be paired with residents of an area group, who will invite you to share in their orientation activities. This will be one way for you to feel more connected to the campus, although the choice to participate is yours. Look for an email in August with your area-group assignment. If you live off campus, you are welcome to purchase board points or a meal plan (through the business office)—another way to get to know other Reedies.

Just for non-traditional aged students

Students who are of non-traditional age bring valuable insights and perspectives with them to the Reed campus community. We also recognize that it can be challenging to play the role of student as well as being a parent, working full time, and/or having other family commitments. We encourage you to attend orientation and to be involved in our community in any way you are able to.
